Turquoise Deco Liberty of London
Introducing Scaramouche (a blend of the words scarf and mouchoir, French for handkerchief) selling individually handmade vintage scarf cushions.
They are an eclectic mix from kitsch to classic made entirely from recycled materials. There is a variety of sizes from 36″ square to 10″ square and each is unique and individually priced so designs such as Liberty of London and those that are signed are dearer. Prices range from £25 to £65.
They can be silk, satin, rayon or cotton and all are backed in cotton to strengthen them with reverse sides in plain complementary colours, an envelope opening and buttons, poppers or ties to fasten.
The scarves are all hand-washed but as they are vintage and pre-owned some may still retain faint marks which prove impossible to budge or have tiny holes/pulls all of which are part of their charm!
The pads are feather or aerofoam (feather fillings do not keep their shape in large sizes) and conform to fire safety regulations. Those sent by post are rolled into tubes without pads and priced accordingly.
I welcome commissions if someone has a scarf they never wear but is special to them – see About Me page – from which I can create a family heirloom of the future and perfect for a special birthday, wedding or christening present. And it is always a pleasure to scout for particular subjects – just contact me at the bottom righthand of the page to discuss your requirements.
Photos of some of my stock and archive cushions have been uploaded and can be seen in my Gallery. I will be adding to these and creating more Galleries in due course. If you have any queries about those pictured please contact me.
Cushions are despatched to customers (without pads which can be sourced easily on the internet) rolled in tubes and sent by recorded delivery.
I met you at the Kew Fair. A group of us have booked the same venue for a fair on 24th October now that Grace has stopped doing it. Contact me if you are interested at all in taking a stall. Booking hasn’t opened yet.
Ann
Hi Ann, yes please! Count me in. I’ll put it in my diary so just let me know when you need payment for table. Many thanks for thinking of me. Nicola
